PLAY THERAPY CERTIFICATE COURSE THE MAGIC OF PLAY THERAPY
Aims: 1. To promote the well being and efficacy of play and expressive arts therapy. 2. To provide systematic and quality training for those who are interested to become professional play and expressive therapists recognized by SAPET in Malaysia. 3. To provide professional supervision for those who are under training. 4. To provide annual continuing education for those who will become professional therapists after 120 contact hours of learning and training. 5. To provide mutual support and sharing of experience and resources. Target Group: Child counselors, social workers, kindergarten teachers, child care helpers, pediatric professionals, child psychiatrist and nurses, other related mental health professionals, and interested individuals. Participants: Limited to 15 only Date of commencement: 30 & 31, August and 1 September 2008 (Sat - Mon) Fees: (Members are entitled to 10% discount) Level 1: RM 700/pax, Level 2: RM500/pax, Level 3: RM 500/pax. NOTE: In order to obtain the full certificate issued by SAPET, besides the above 50 contact hours play therapy course, trainees are encouraged to further undertake 70 hours of training in other related therapies, with a total of 120 contact hours, PLUS 10 contact hours of continuing education in order to renew one's annual professional status with SAPET. Professional Play Therapist and Para-professional Facilitators Requirement. 1. Professional Play Therapist: For those who have diploma / degree in counseling, psychology, early childhood education, psychotherapy, expressive arts, drama, music, or obtained in related fields, and wish to pursue further to become professional play therapist recognized by Selangor Association of Play and Expressive Therapy (SAPET), one is required to have accumulated 400 hours of recorded clinical play sessions, PLUS another 40 hours supervision by a qualified therapist supervisor. 2. Para-professional Facilitators: For those who do not wish to go through the entire 100 contact hours but desire to gain more knowledge in the above mentioned therapies only.
